Connor's 1st Swim Class

We went to our 1st swim class last night. Connor was the youngest baby there but he did great! He only cried a little when they had him floating on his side with his ear in the water. I was really impressed with how well he was floating and how willing he was to work with the instructor. This class is a Parent and Me class so I have to get in the water with him. I'm not too thrilled about wearing a bathing suit right now but oh well. Based on last night, I think we'll be doing these classes until he's big enough to do individual classes. I took the picture once we got home. I wish I had someone to go with me to take pictures of him in the pool. My dad wants to come down in the middle of the week so he can see him so I'll get some pictures then.

Connor's first cold

Connor had his first cold this weekend. It started on Thursday with a runny nose, postnasal drip, and a slight clammy feeling. It morphed into a cough by Saturday and I was worried it was whopping cough as we, apparently, are having an small epidemic locally. He wasn't eating well and sleeping a lot. He's always slept well at night but is not really a napper but on Saturday and Sunday he slept off and on all day with a 2 hour nap in the afternoon...weird. Today he seems to be much better. He's back to eating regularly and slept really well last night, unswaddled.

The unswaddled part brings me more joy than it really should. I was wondering why he couldn't sleep without being in the infant version of a headlock. I hope this is the beginning of a trend and not just an aberration. I really want our swaddling days to be over......

I'm going to give this a try.....

I've never blogged before but it seems like it might be a way to organize my thoughts so I'll give it a try. I don't think I'm that interesting but hopefully people will get a kick out of my random musings. I'm really glad it's Friday. This week was Connor's first week in daycare and it's been tougher than I imagined. He seems very content at the sitter's, he's even made a friend, so that makes it easier. I just wish I could stay home with him and I thought I'd NEVER say something like that. I enjoy my life and work has always been a large part of it. I was a little excited to come back to work after maternity leave and get back to my life. I still enjoy what I do and I know Connor is very well cared for at daycare but I still wish it was me doing the caring. It seems strange to me to feel that way. I know motherhood changes you and realigns your priorities but I never thought I would feel like this. My mother worked and I think I'm the better for it. I was always very independent and never felt like I missed out on anything so I don't know why I feel this way now. It's probably just the roller coaster hormones that seem to never stop and I'll probably be over it in a couple of weeks. After all, the important thing is that he's happy, so I'm going to be happy too.
